Started as an internal experiment trying to combine data visualization and photography. Ended up as an extensive project with a continuous flow of new visuals. In essence we visualize fascinating facts from the world through photos to give a new perspective on a subject.

Three ingredients

The concept is quite simple: each visual consists of a fact, a photo, that is manipulated into a data visualization. On the other hand, the execution of each visual is way more tricky.

Bird-data-perspective

We love the idea of visualizing a fact, seeing it from a bird’s point of view, whether we’re making use of a treemap, bar chart or a proportional area chart.

Moving data pictures

We wanted to add something extra to some of the visual stories. So we animated them, making each fact even more powerful and spectacular.
